Welcome to our beautiful community.  Wauconda has a long tradition of being a community of caring people.  We currently
have an estimated population of just over 12,000 residents and we are proud of the services and dedication that our employees provide for them.  Daily operations of the Village are overseen by a highly qualified full-time staff.

The Village Board is comprised of a Mayor, Clerk and six Trustees.  Meetings are held every Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Village Hall with the first and third Tuesday for formal Board meetings and the second and fourth Tuesday for informal Committee of the Whole meetings.  Our town is run by a Village Administrator who guides the staff at the behest of the Village Board.  Agendas, as well as meeting minutes, can always be found at www.wauconda-il.gov.

Village updates via email.  Whenever information that is important to the residents is needed they will receive an email notification.  We also have all of our Village ordinances online for their convenience.

Wauconda has a small town feel, but at the same time we enjoy a certain amount of conveniences that one would find in a much larger community.  We have great parks, excellent schools and an award-winning library.  New residents that I have spoken to say the main reason they enjoy living in Wauconda is because they feel safe and comfortable.

We pride ourselves in having very dedicated Police and Fire officers, many of whom have young families and live here themselves.  Our Public Works and Building and Zoning Departments are at the service of our community each and every day providing assistance for our residents.  We have an Environmental Quality Department that looks out for any issue that pertains to our natural resources, such as Bangs Lake and the quality of our precious environment. Our Finance Department is staffed with professionals of the caliber that one would find in a large city and they are constantly updating our budgets and looking for ways to improve our financial future.

Economic development is a key focus for Wauconda.  Our Village has an Economic Development Coordinator who is actively pursuing commercial developers to come to our Village and become part of our community.  By doing so we will be able to offer goods and services to our residents and at the same time offset some of the residential tax burden.

In closing, I think you will find Wauconda to be a great place to live and raise your family. I am amazed by how many people I know who were born and raised here and decided to stay and raise their families in the same type of environment that they enjoyed as a child.  We have so much to offer our residents and we
continue to make improvements so that everyone will be able to take advantage of our community’s dedication to a prosperous quality of life.
